My son uses this bullet in his .284 Win going 3100 fps.
He shot a huge 30 inch Mule Deer this year, has killed 4 other mature Mule Deer and 2 Elk, a Bull and a cow and an Antelope.
When he was younger and more recoil sensitive we were running them at about 2750 fps for one Bull and a couple deer.
Even though it is light for caliber it works great in his .284, should be no different in your 7x57.
We've not had any issues with these bullets.
If I were loading for a 7x57 and the 130 Speer I would look at IMR4064 or IMR4350 to start.
Good luck with yours.

Ive shot a lot of deer with the Speer 130 gr. in boat tail and flat base both.. Ive used it in the 7x57 and .284..It and the 145 gr. Speer are my two favorite deer bullets for both small Texas whitetail and Idahos big mule deer...Either will do the job on both and do it well..I have not used either bullet on elk as I believe the 160 or 175 is a better choice for elk and moose..and both work on deer as well.

Thanks guys, it is certainly an option if this rifle likes the lighter bullets. I am going to load up/get some rounds to fire in the next couple weeks. I have some 145BT on hand, but will wait and see how a few others do before trying them. Merry Christmas!

I killed my first 2 deer with the 130 Speer Spitzer from my .284 Winchester in 1967. These have been the farthest of any game I've shot at slightly over 300 yards. Years went by, guns traded, different cartridges used, then in the early '80s I got a pretty little M.70 XTR Featherweight in 7mm Mauser. Still had a stash of the 130 Speer's so I worked up some deer loads using H-4895 and IMR-4320 with accuracy being from 2720 to 2800 fps. Killed deer just as well as from my .284 Win. They also make a mild kicking rifle even milder. Wink Merry Christmas!

I have the identical rifle dean! It has a relatively short throat so hopefully it likes the lighter bullets. I like the lighter bullets for the majority of my shooting just for the trajectory and the the way they kill deer/antelope. Now "sometimes" I will go Old School and use a big heavy go moderate speed, especially on hogs. Merry Christmas guys! Smiler

I have loaded 145gr speer GS using AA4350 powder and have actually knocked down deer dead in their tracks where they were standing.

I've recently worked up a load in the same caliber shooting 150g Nos Solid Bases (which are now no longer in production).

7mm 140 Combined Technologies Ballistic Tip. The cartridge was 7mm/08 loaded to 2770 fps. That is a 7mmx57 load.

I shot a 2 year old eight point in the neck at less than 20 yards. The bullet exited and blew the jugular out the others side. It was very vulgar with lots of blood.

Weight maybe 170 poundish live. I think gutted with the skin and antlers off it weighed 127 pounds.

Liked it so much it got me into the 270 Win. I do not have much use for the 130 grain projectiles. Love 140. But that is just me being me. A 130cannot be too much less. It is only 10grains.

The 130 Speer BT or FB still remains my favorite whitetail load on those Texas hill country whitetail, It a toss up on Idahos big mule deer between the 130 and 145 speer..

I see no reason to use premium bullets on deer, but the Nosler Accubond is IMO, an awesome bullet at a great price for elk and deer..

Since I can hunt both at the same time I like the 160 gr. Accubond in my 7x57, and the 200 gr. in my 30-06 and the 225 in my .338..they cover all the bases in such circumstances..
