I realize this topic has been addressed, but my search yielded somewhat dated discussions. I have a Kimber 8400 on the way (been drooling for several years  ). It has Kimber bases already installed, but no rings. So the question is, should I grab a set of Burris Signature rings (rear windage, which I'm not overly fond of, and front turn-in) or spring for a new set of light weight Talley rings/bases? The only Kimber I'd use Kimber Bases on is a Super America where you want to use their gloss ones to match the rifle:  Otherwise Talley's are a far better choice. Go with the Lightweights if you are sure of what scope you want on the rifle. If you want to have a sighted in spare scope for the same rifle use the Talley QR rings and bases. That's what I've been using on all my other Kimbers other than the Super America 308 pictured above........................DJ ....Remember that this is all supposed to be for fun!.................. | |||

My son's Kimber Hunter came with the factory bases so I used a spare set of Leupold rings I had laying around. I used the lightweight Talleys on his 84M. So far so good. | |||

Dave, I went with a .300 WSM, which should fill the gap between my 6.5X55 and my .338 quite well. I've wanted a light powerful rifle for a while now (there's a small dream of sheep/goat hunting starting in the back of my head), and have drooled over a Kimber 8400 for several years. I got a pretty good deal on a "Select" model with matte finish and pretty nice wood. I'm hoping to scope it with a Leupold Vari-X 3 3.5-10X40 in the near future and put it to work in Wyoming on an antelope (overkill, but good practice right?). _____________________ A successful man is one who earns more money than his wife can spend. | |||
