I was just perusing the new Alliant Powder Guide and it appears their Power-Pro powders offer some sizable velocity gains in most calibers they have tested. Anyone tried them yet? Any use in 7x57, 250 Savage, or .257 Roberts? I think some of them were on the shelf at my friendly powdereria. NRA Life Member DRSS-Claflin Chapter Mannlicher Collectors Assn KCCA IAA

Guess I've used several lbs of the 2000MR in the 7x57, 257R and perhaps 2 or 3 other cartridges I reload. Love the way it meters and its provided some decent accuracy for me. Can't comment on any velocity I've obtained with it as I have no chronograph. As to the 250 Savage, had one built a few months ago, that I've been experimenting with using various powders and bullets. Very recently emailed Alliant for some suggested load data using 2000MR in the 250S, but they were no help....heck Alliant has no 250 Savage load data for any of their powders. However, I've tried other brand spherical type powders with a very similar burn rate to the 2000MR. Have come to the conclusion, I can probably be safe using the start load data around that of H380 (darn near same burnrate as 2000MR and Ramshot's Big Game (very slightly slower than 2000MR) to began trying the 2000MR in my 250Savage rifle.

Shot a few rounds of 75gr Hornady Vmax with 36.5gr of Alliant 2000MR in my 250 Savage. Fellow shooter with a chronograph allowed me to use it. Had readings of: 2951fps, 2942fps, 2921fps with no pressure signs on primer. Also, just got a reply from an inquiry to Hornady for 250 Savage load data with Alliant 2000MR powder. Hornady was no help, had not tried 2000MR in the 250 Savage.
