Anyone have any experience on game with the Trophy Bonded Tip bullets by Federal?

These are the bullets based on the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw with a translucent poly tip.
Planning on using factory Federal Vital-Shok 180 grain, 300 Win Mag, on a mule deer hunt in a couple of weeks and have not heard much info on how they perform in the field.

They shoot good out of my Ruger stainless/laminate 300 WM and I plan to give them a go. Photo of a target from a couple of weeks ago at the range. The cloverleaf is from the bench at 100 yards and the other two are from shooting off of a monopod shooting stick at the same distance.

For a mule deer and anything else in the lower 48, they should do a stellar job.

I've used the 180 grain in a .300WSM with great results on does in South Texas. I generally use my African calibres just for practice, but used the .300 with that bullet last year with very good results.

Thanks for the replies.

I killed this Utah mule deer buck using the 300WM a few weeks ago using the Trophy Tip and was very pleased with the performance. Quartering away shot at 168 yards with complete penetration... deer went about 30-40 yards after the hit.

Sure wish they'd release them for reloaders.

Us re-loaders always want what we can't have. Doesn't matter that there are probably over a dozen premium bullets that do the same thing. Big Grin
