Been working up loads for the new 338-06 and saw a couple of posts mentioning Big Game with the 200-225 weights. I loaded up some with the 200 Hornady and 210 Partition and worked up to 62 gr.(max. according to a Ramshot correspondence). The groups varied a bit, but were acceptable. The velocity spread however wasn't, I got as much as 120fps difference in a 3 shot group! I'm using Win WLR primers and wondering if I would be better off with magnum primers? What primers are those of you shooting Big Game in this cartridge using and how is your velocity spread?
Right now 4320 is the accuracy champ, but slow. RL-15 is the one for combination of speed and accuracy in this rifle. So far anyway.

I would try switching primers.

I have had pretty good luck with Varget.

With the 225 weights, try RL-19.

I have been using 57grs IMR 4350 w/Sie 250 SBT, CCI 200 primers- 2495 FPS, 25 fps VD. Shoots just under 4" at 300 yds out of my 22" PAC-NOR barreled 1903. No excessive pressure signs, no extraction or resizing problems in my rifle. Hope this helps.

I'd think a magnum primer might cut the SD quite a bit.....IIRC all Ramshot powders are ball powders.
