My wife was shooting her's on Friday and what a sweet gun! We are using Warne QD mounts and a Pentax 2.5 fixed scope and PRVI 139 grainers and dammit if that little bugger doesn't shoot nice groups. She is excited for the rifle opener here in Maine next Saturday and hopes to dust a nice WT early in the season.

the rifle and load should be up to the task for sure.
I might see my Little tang safety Ruger in 7X57 again some day.
the youngest girl snagged it up before I even got to do any load work ups with it when she first started deer hunting and I ain't seen it since.

Congrats on your great purchase and shooting with your CZ 550 7x57. The CZ 550 is a super rifle, especially for the money! I just bought another CZ 550 in 9.3x62 for $569 for another AHR #3 conversion some day with Wayne.

I own a Ruger No.1 Boddington in 7x57 and really like it, and last year bought a Ruger African in 275 Rigby, obviously the same as a 7x57, and took a doe Antelope with it this year. A great cartridge.

Hope your wife can connect this hunting season with her new CZ 7x57. Good luck!!! tu2

Very hard to go wrong with a CZ 550. I have been tempted to try one in 6.5X55.

This winter I'll be sending it to dpcd for some of his magic to install a new bolt handle, AHR safety, irons/sling swivel and to scrub that horrible billboard off the receiver. Have a nice NECG ghost ring backup I found at the house then get it all reblued. Love that rifle. It has a big brother in 9.3 too.

Bill, go with your temptation! I have my CZ 550 6.5x55 at AHR with Wayne for a #3 conversion. What a great safari rifle that will make, especially paired with either my AHR 9.3x62 or my 9.3x66 Wayne is making. Just a thought for your consideration...

I also bought a new Ruger African 6.5x55 this year which I will use on my next Antelope tag I have in my pocket. Took my first one this year with my Ruger African in 275 Rigby. What a fun year!

Anyway guys, buy those CZ 550s in either 7x57 or 6.5x55. Can’t go wrong! tu2

Clasic gun in a classic caliber! And a shooter to boot!!

Is this an older CRF, or a newer push feed? I have had much success with both styles.

(Shhh, I even like the Winchester push feeds, they make the grade in accuracy, and are cheaper to rebarrel to boot.

Enjoy your rifle! 140-grain pills at 2,700 to 2,750 will get the job done out to 350 yards with ease (IF you can read the wind.

Hmmmm. I must be confused. (No big surprise!)

I thought the American is a pushfeed and the 550 is a CRF.

Can’t be both, can it?

The American 550 is crf, it has a classic American stock instead of the hog back stock. I have one in 6.5x55 and it is consistently accurate with a variety of loads and bullets weights.

The 557 is push feed. There was a model called the 550 Minnesota that they imported for a while that was a more "Americanized" stock, drilled and tapped for Rem 700 style scope bases, instead of the CZ dovetail. It was the same action as the standard 550's otherwise. I have one in 308, nice little rifle and picked it up on the cheap.

Thanks guys!

I get it now. I think I am confusing the Ruger American pushfeed with the CZ American 550.

So, can I expect more befuddlement as I approach my 70s? Frowner Big Grin

I had a CZ 550 Full stock 7x57 years ago;
It was very accurate, I love the cartridge, and in a few Minuit i will do a post my new one that i just bought.
I had a #1A in 7x57 too and it was superbly accurate with a 140 grain ballistic tip at 2900 fps with a still charge of H-414.

Built me a 7X57 on a Yugo M-48 action. I cant get enough of it. They make such a fantastic deer rifle. Paul Mauser really knew what he was doing with that one all those years ago.

I've looked high and low for a CZ-550 in 7x57 to no avail but, ran across a full stock in 7x64 with which I am well pleased. I have it strolling along at 7x57 speeds by slightly reduced handloads.

Hey, the 7x64 is a great upgrade! I love my 280 Rem. and it’s a twin to the 7x64.

Go for it! tu2
