I am looking for those who are experienced with the .284 Win.
I am also looking for loading data with 160 grain bullets and how does this caliber compare with the other 7mm's such as the 280 Remington, 7x57 Mauser and the 7mm WSM.
Thanks in advance

It is about on par with the .280, a step ahead of the 7x57 and a step behind the 7WSM as far as velocity goes.
Basically the .284 was designed to be the case capacity of a 30/06 on a short action, it did this and was one of the real original beltless short mags but it never really took off.
My son uses a Ruger flat bolt in .284 and it works superb this last fall he dropped his first buck at 180 yards one shot and got his first Bull Elk with it as well. We started him off shooting it with light loads and 130 grain bullets and he is now up to full power 150 and 162 grain bullets. I get all my loading data from the Sierra load book or the IMR and Hodgdons website. So far IMR 4350 and 4064 seem to do well and Varget is okay.

I should also add that the .284 gives up some velocity to the other cartridges you are comparing it to when you get above 160 grain bullets as they have to be seated overly deep and take up powder space unless your .284 has a long throat and magazine, then you can seat them out further and take advantage of everything this round has to offer. My sons .284 in Ruger M77 is not long throated but it is not proving to be a problem for us. If you need to wring every "fps" out of a cartridge then step up to a 7 mag.

I had my 7x57 Mountain Rifle out and chronied some 140 grain Partition's and got 2825 fps out of the load of 50 grains of H4350. The .284 I had out today got 2778 fps with 53 grains of H4350 under a 160 Sierra GameKing bullet.I really like the 7mm bullet, no matter what it's launched out of it seems to do well.
