Can't say as I haven't had one in a remington. I did respond on a thread on the gunsmithing forum my reasons for not careing for the ackley. If you just want something different, go for it, but if you're operating the same pressures you would with the std whelen, you'll only pick up 50 fps. For that insignifigant gain, you have the trouble and exspense of fireforming brass.
The std whelen is a fine round, 225's @ 2700 fps, 250's @ 2500 fps.

I agree with Paul H... keep it standard.. I've read MANY responses from folks that have "improved" it, only to find out it's not that much of an improvement.
My 35 Whelan Imp is on a mauser 98 action. No action work was required and it feeds as smooth as silk.I would like to ask Paul what "trouble" he is having with fireforming? My rifle has the Ackley Imp chamber which uses the std 06 headspace gauges with .004" ground off. Whether I use 35 Whelan cases or neck up 06 cases, once through the size die produces a nice snug fitting case.Simply load and shoot. I see no difference in point of impact or size of group when using fireformed cases or non fireformed.I don't see a problem here! I would recommend the improved version if you are a handloader
