Has anybody experience with this type of bullets (165-180 gr) with a 300 WM ( MV 3100-2950 ft/s)on medium game (100-200 pd.) Ignacio Colomer

yes....it's a very light jacketewd bullet that competes with Noslers ballistic tip.....IMO it's too light jacketed for the 300 magnums. Use the standard interlock or go to a bonded core bullet. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." The 165 gr SST worked well for me on deer sized game. I've shot three deer with it with no problems. I got complete pentration on all three. I always take a lung shot. I've never shot a deer in the shoulder with this bullet, so i can't comment on how well it holds together when it hits heavy bone.

The SST is what I use for my .308 Win deer rifle. Works very at that speed (and at 30/06 levels also). They usually punch straight through deer. 3100 FPS might be a bit to much umpf for the bullety construction, but I know guys who use them in .300 Win Mags and don't complain.

i've loaded both of these bullets in a 300 win mag but with no game experience. The only thing I do know is that shooting milk jugs with these loads will flat out vaporize a milk jug full of water with bullet fragments everywhere behind it. I loaded te 165 for a friend to deer hunt with in a 30-06 and he killed two nice bucks with them but he said that they sure tear everything up inside with now sign of a recovery effort being worth while. Just my 2 cents. Good luck, choose the interbond for 300 win mag velocities, ATLEAST! -Everybody has a dream hunt, mine just happens to be for a Moose.- -The 30-06 is like a perfect steak next to a campfire, a .300 Win Mag is the same but with mushrooms and a baked potato-

Not a good bullet for game at Mag velocities or even 06 velocities. I've loaded them for myself and others and they were Very explosive on deer w/ poor penetration. Much more explosive than NBTs from my experience. The NBT has a much thicker jacket than an SST. If you must use an SST, the 180s would probably be your best bet. Good Luck Reloader

Everything I've read on the bulets suggests Hornady has given the SSTs a slightly thicker Jacket. Per American Hunter, July 2001. "The SST looks quite a bit like Nosler's ballistic tip-which has quite a reputation itself. But the SST's jacket is thicker, accordering to Emary (a Hornady ballistician), and its ballistic coefficiant is higher owing to a more aggressive boattail." Jay

Take one of each and grind them down for a profile look. You'll see quickly what I'm refering to. The SST has a thin jacket surrounding the lead core. The NBT has a thin jacket right at the nose and then it gets thicker and thicker down towards the base which is a solid piece of copper for a bit. The solid base and thicker jacket above IMO is why they hold together better than the SST. I've used a pile of them both, just my experience w/ em'. Have a Good One Reloader
