Bren - Thanks for the excellent bunch of cast bullet data! You're a big help and will get me started with several powders. I'll share my studies.

I've never liked the Loverin style bullets, much preferring to get a bullet with a couple of good strong driving bands near the base and that's it.

Suggest you go to Leadhead Bullets website and check out his selection of stuff. Address is: www.proshootpro.com if I remember correctly.

Click on "ORDERS" and it will show you picts and specs of all his bullets. The 150 gr bullet he has looks perfect for the 7.62x39. Three grease rings and solid driving bands with flat nose on bullet. Seat it up near the top of the last band and it virtually duplicates factory OAL.

Tommy at Leadhead recommends .313 size bullets for this cartridge and he will custom size all bullets to whatever. I've never waited more than 3 working days for him to fill an order and he will make the bullets cheaper than I will for myself. EXCELLENT quality. The bullets you get will look exactly like the bullets shown on the order sheet.

Anyhow, I'm expecting great things from this 150 flat point and think I'll take a white tail with it this fall if I get to to. I don't have any doubts it will work fine.

Howdy, Pecos.

My data for 150-class bullets is fairly limited, because I've been mostly testing 7.62x39 loads with heavier bullets. I have a dozen or so .30-caliber moulds on hand, and trying to test ALL of them in any one cartridge is a real exercise!

I've loaded designs as heavy as 210 grains and still got perfect bullet stability and some nice groups in the bargain. I haven't tried to find max loads with ANY bullet in this rifle to date.

311466 has worked very well in a number of my rifles, including a Krag, a Garand and a M700 .30-06. If I can locate such a critter, I'll buy a 4-cavity 466 like a shot! I like working with 311291 a whole lot, too.

My M77's bore diameter is .3105", but I do intend to try some fatter-than-.311 bullets as time permits. Many of my .30 designs will tolerate being sized as large as .314, which helps such testing considerably.

I have a Yugo SKS coming soon, "just because", so that should be fun too. At least I already have everything for making ammo for it.

Bren - I'm going to load some of my 7.62 brass with the 150 gr bullet pictured above this weekend. And I'll be using your data. Thanks again.
