Ok as someone who owns a Rem700 with a heavy Hart barrel on it (7mmRemag) That additionally has been full length bedded, trued action, handlapped locking lugs, ground recoil lug, honed guide rail, etc... (all by a benchrest smith) I've just gotta ask, how would the accuracy that any of us achieve affect what YOU will get from a rifle? Given a different gunsmith and a dfferent loose nut behind the trigger. Remingtons in stock form are usually very accurate rifles that are easily improved with a bit of bedding work and a slight trigger tuning. the only thing I see that messes them up are people adjusting the trigger who are clueless about how to do it OR people installing an aftermarket firing pin spring that bunches and rubs against the inside of the bolt body. that all being said there's nothing like owning an $800 rifle that someone sunk $1200 worth of precision work into. Well there is something... buying said rifle off a used rack for $250 because the joker used an improperly installed "speedlock" firing pin spring and had the trigger's sear engagement set so twitchy that closing the bolt abrubtly would cause the striker to fall. Then some other joker had it on deposit and failed to pick it up... the particular dealer I got it from puts rifles back on the rack after 90days AND the price is reduced by the non-refunded deposit.... a really good thing if you are the next one in the door after he's gone through the deposit rack in the back room after checking dates I honestly have no idea what the original asking price was.... It took me 15seconds to spot it on the used rack 30seconds to examine it and see how much had been done. and The guy behind the counter didn't even ask before he started reaching for the blank 4473's. He KNEW that rifle was GONE from the instant my hand touched it. Frankly, I'd have taken it in ANY long action 30-06 or magnum family cartridge because I had been looking for an R700 "long" action to build either a 280rem or 7mmMag. that rifle saved me a bunch of work and even more money. the fact that it was built by the gunsmith I would have had do the work anyway was even better.... Though not nearly as nice as it would be to have a certain redheaded female come back into my life... but such is life. There are exactly two things I would have done differently. I would have used a McMillan stock and I would have bought the barrel from Dan Lilja, but other than that... it's as perfect as that freckled readhead still is in my mind's eye. Best of all I didn't have to buy the basic rifle then wait 10-12months for the gunsmith to finish it. AD If I provoke you into thinking then I've done my good deed for the day! Not Remington 700's, but I have owned two Weatherby MkV's with Hart barrels (one 7mmm RM and one 300 Win Mag). Both shot around 1/2 MOA or better with preferred loads. Praise be to the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.

I had my Remington 700 rebarreled and bedded by Krieger to 264 WM with a standard weight barrel. The gun is more accurate than I could possibly shoot myself just using sandbags off the bench. I was getting 2.5" groups with the gun beforehand and now I easily get 3/4" with a couple different loads. I have another 700 that was rebarreled to 300 Savage by McGowen Precision and I get similar results.

I am not sure where you are headed with this, but Remington 700's are probably THE most used actions to build custom guns. All the brands of barrels you mention are of very good quality. I have two Remington 700's that have been rebarreled to 22-250 Remington using Hart stainless steel barrels. Both will shoot 1/2 inch five shot groups. Very good barrels, indeed. I have a Remington 700 chambered in 6mm Remington. It wears a stainless steel Shilen barrel. It is a heavy countour and the gun was well tricked out by the gunsmith. It will shoot honest to God 0.25 inch five shot groups if I do my part. Lastly, I own a Remington 700 that was rebarelled in 25-06 using a chrome moly Lilja barrel. With certain loads it will place three .257 caliber bullets into 0.25 inches. It will shoot most any hunting bullets into a half inch to 3/4 inch. Being in California, I have been testing the Barnes TSX bullets due to the lead bullet ban. It shoots these easily into 0.75 inch. The amazing thing about this barrel is that it shoots just darned near any bullet of any weight to the same point of impact. R Flowers

Yes. My rifles have all of the bbl names you mention. All shoot very very well with my handloads and some work. All are 700s except two, I have one Sako, and one Ruger. Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns

I have a handfull or custom remington 700 rifles. I have Two with lilga barrels a 25-06 and a 280. I have one with a douglas barrel a 284 winchester, one with a kriger barrel a 6.5-06, and a new project on the way useing a brux barrel in 260 remington. All of them shoot well. The lilga and the kriger are phanamonal. Here is the key, have someone who really knows what they are doing put your rifle together. Useing a gunsmith that specializes in accurate rifles will set you on the right path. A gunsmith that does simple repairs and just so happens to have a lathe and a set of reamers in not the way to go

I have a Rem 700 SA with a Lilja barrel with HS Precision stock, squared and trued and all the goodies done to it. It shoots very well. I don't think it'll matter much what caliber you're using if a 700 action and good barrel, trigger and stock are used.

Greg Tannel built my 30BR with a Kreiger barrel and a Rem700 action. I have shot .0 groups and some .095 groups last week. It doesn't get much better than that.
