SnellstromWow thats cheap!
I've never heard of them being so low priced. I need a cheap one in .223
15 May 2011, 08:41
jeffeossoif it was in 223 or 308, i'd have got 5 of them..
as it is, it was cheaper than most 22s these days.. and for 40 bucks, i can put my night vision gear on it... brass, bullets, dies and picatinny on the way!
spot bedded likely tomorrow, trigger already lightened -- it'll likely be okay...

swheelerGreat price, great cartridge! That's about what they went for in late 1980's as Savage 110

cameronaussieDear Jeff
In aussie they go for $430 as a min.
Considering the fact the Aus $ is more than USA now.
This stuff in Aussie is always a rip off.

jeffeossoif i can find a load that will go slow enough, i am hoping to get 150gr h sst about 2200fps .. that gives me a 1.5" PMBR (3"kill zone) of 200ish yards .. which is well within my scope's capabilities, and at the outside of my normal shooting envelope.
if not, i'll have to suffer with them going 2800ish.. same as my 7x64 ...which is a slayer
i got this one specifically to put my digisight on... $100 for a trigger and some bedding, and i have my culler!

38grains of Acc2015 or 30grains of Acc 5744 might get you what you're looking for.

Nice one Jeffe.
A friend here uses a load of 36 grain of H4895 behind a Speer 150gr BTSP in a heavily cut down, 16-18" IIRC, cut down moderated .270 for recoil sensitive clients and general culling.
I think it does around 2300 and ought to scratch the itch as far as those hogs are concerned.
Have you thought about getting a little digicorder to plug into the scope yet?
Treat yourself with the money you've saved and post some pictures here!
Best,
Amir

jeffeossoAmir,
I went with 38 grains .. it was slightly over 70% fill ... and darn the luck, the hornady sst 150gr, its sub moa with thee digisight... i just turned the factory trigger down a bit.. not great for target work, but for hunting?
yeppers, it'll work -- QL says about 2450

Christian SnyderI would have bought every Stevens 200 they had and then sold them for $250... That would've been quite a profit.

I already knew that. The only question that remains is what are you going to turn it into?

Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
Jeffe, you dog!
That was a 3-day only sale! Now they're $249 (which still isn't bad, considering).
Sure would make a nice Whelen. I called, and was going to do my best to deplete their supply.

It's the little things that matter.

huffmaniteAcademy bought quite a bunch of Stevens 200 in .270 and 7mm-08 two Christmas's ago to sell as a Christmas special. I ended up buying two of them, one for $249 and other for $179. Told my shooting buddies at range about the $179 price and a number of them would take advantage of the price.
Bought the $179 one just for the action to rebarrel to a caliber I prefer.

Chuck NelsonThat's one way to flush $169.99 down the crapper. Smooth move.
