I own a dakota 97 in 300 Dakota and am very happy with it. Dakota has very good after sales service. I would go as far as to say they have the best service of any manufacturer I have dealt with. bigbull

I have a Dakota 76 in 257 AI. Had it about 12-15 years. It's my "go too" deer rifle. Accuracy is good, functioning is good. Can't speak to customer service cause I never needed any. Never had it tested for hardness so I can't speak to that issue either. I do think they have gotten over priced, though. Jim

I'm another Ken but I'm with Allen on this one. My early 90's Model 76 shot minute of barn door. I even had it looked at as I had heard such good things, but nothing helped.

I have a Model 10. The fit and finsh are fantastic. The accuracy is one of the best factory rifles I have. The only issue I have with the Model 10 is the light weight makes the recoil very heavy. I have a 25-06 without recoil pad and the recoil is sharper and harder than my 7# 338.

Thanks all of you for your contribution to make me a decision. Browsing some US dealers and companies I found an offer for used left hand Dakota rifles with pac-nor barrels. The seller reports that the rifles are in an excellent condition. I don't know very much about pac nor barells and their reputation and quality and I can not jugde, if it is a bargain offer. They charge 3300 bucks for a left hand 30.06 and 3250 for a .308 What is your opinion??? Saw some cheaper offers for right hand Dakotas but I can't judge their conditions. PS: If it is right that in the past Dakota actions have some quality problems in terms of "being to soft", should it not checked, if the actions came out of that time?
PSS: By the way: Does the Jewell (trigger) company has an website??

The have a lot of Dakota's in stock, and you can bargain. I bought a .338 WM - Classic grade with XXX English Walnut 98% condition for 2,400.00 - asking price was 2,950.00 - great rifle.
Scheels Sporting Goods Store in Appleton also has some priced in the range that ROland talks about both left as well as right hand. I don't know whether you could import them to Germany but if you want me to get you their number etc, just let me know. I saw a beautiful 375 African model with a wood stock, quarter rib with single standing rear sight and hooded front for $ 2950 there.
I am not an expert in any way and would not be able to comment on quality or lack of it and so I can only out you in touch with them if you like.
My Dakota is not for sale, I just know, First Stop Gun sales a lot of Dakotas, and there have a lot of left hand rifles for sale right now. My personal experience, Its a reliable company. The have a lot more guns than the advertise on Guns America's web site, so the best thing to do is call.
