My wife confiscated my 35 Whelen for a Christmas Present from her that I bought.

Be that as it may, I got the rifle. I just got off the phone with Superior. They are cooking me up a few rounds of Woodleigh 275 grain protected points and 250 grain Partitions.

Oh happy days.

Congrats on your good taste in selecting the 35 Whelen. My favorite medium bore!

How much does Superior charge for a box of the 250 gr. Partitions you ordered, compared to the Nosler Custom grade ammo?

With 225 grain swift A Frames I have shot everything I would ever want to with a 35 whelen! And that too at just over 2500 fps, thanks to my short barrel!

It really is a tremendous cartridge.

Hello Reddy375 and Surefire:

I got about 200 rounds of 225 Accubonds already squirreled away.

With a decent twist, mine is 1:12, this is a very versatile cartidge. Those 225 Accubonds chromed over 2800 from my barrel.

The problem it makes me want a 358 STA even more!

Surefire, don’t hate me for this, but I was so frustrated about not being able to find any 250 Nosler loads I did not even ask.

I will let you know.

As a big fan of the 350 Rigby, I think the whelen is the next best (and affordable) thing. 225 @2625 has been there and done it for a long time.

LHeym500, are you getting 2800 fps with the factory 225 grain Nosler trophy grade loads?

That is what the Magneto speed said strapped to the end of the barrel.

The box says 2750. My experience with the 7mm STW is Nosler runs faster than the box when I was reverse engineering a round for the STW.

PM a cell phone number. I will text you the picture of the read out.

That’s impressive. How is the accuracy with the 225 accubonds?

I do not claim to be a good shot. I held 1.26 inches with a flasher about 2 inches above the group for five shots. The flyer was the third shot.
