I hope someone can help me out here. Well I just inherited a rifle frommy uncle and want to identify it. On the barrel it is marked Vofre Kuestein Austria and KAW-TX HOUSTON. It is a 30-06 and has express sights. If someone can give me the history or something like that I would appreciate it. Thanks Doug
Doug - you'll need to post some photos to get an accurate description of what you have.
The only thing I can tell you from the information you've posted is that it was made by "Vofre Kuestein" in Austria and either imported into the US by "KAW" in Houston Texas, or personalized by someone with the initials "KAW" in Houston Texas.
Sorry, but we'll need photos to tell you much more than that.
I will try and get some pictures. It has a mauser action and a slide safty on the right side next to the bolt. Is any one familiar with Vofre Kuestein? Are they still in business? Thanks again. Doug

You got that right!!!! A buddy has a '06 Voere Kleingunther, SONOFABITCH is it accurate! I've been trying to buy it from him for 16 friggin years!! I shot a "chicken" in the head, when killing time hunting.
Originally posted by El Deguello: If it is a Voere, it probably isn't a Mauser.......... I believe they were push-feed, and had three up-front locking lugs?
The earlier models were indeed Mausers. They changed to a pushfeed later. The Mauser actions were set in BEAUTIFUL rifles. I've encountered no less than five and none of the owners would even discuss selling them.
Thanks for all you input. I e-mailed the company with the serial number and am waiting for a response. My uncle stated it is very accurate when he had it. It defiantly a mauser action. Hopefully I wil hear something soon. Doug
Well I e-mailed the company the serial numbers and they got back with me. It is a model 2155/2165 and was imported into the country in 1972. Thanks a lot for everyones help. Doug
