| x-rings, welcome to the forum. I don't shoot them any more, but when the 270 WSM's were new to my stable (one of the main reasons I began reloading btw) I tried the 150 IB's and often use(d) N-165.
First off I really like the VV powders, and N-165 worked OK, but I did better with the Hogdon stuff and reloader 19 series, as far as speeds. The IB was VERY accurate for me.
That bullet is pretty reliable and tough in my experience with it in a regular 270 on game, which the WSM is just gonna run it around 125-200 fps faster depending on variables, so I feel it will serve you well--although I have ABSOLUTELY no experience on Camel, I would suppose they are fairly thick and stout, so if they aren't an obstacle to obtain, and my guess about Camel's stoutness is accurate, I would really recommend trying some 140 grain TSX's (or TTSX's)
Good luck to you! |

| My "go to load" for my .270WSM is the Nosler 140 gr Accubond with 65.0 gr of VV N-165 and the Federal 210 primer in a Winchester case. I suppose you could drop down to 62 gr or so and work up to see what your particular rifle likes. Lyman's No. 48 manual shows a max load as 65.0 gr with a Hornady 150 gr Rn.
Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

| Unusual choice of powder and projectile for an Aussie . Taking my .270 WSM to the NT later this week and will be using the 130gn Barnes TTSX loaded over 67gns of RL22 for 3242 FPS. Shoots under 3/4 MOA and will sure as hell do a job on a camel from pretty much any angle . Expensive pills but for a one off hunt they are worth it.
The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood. Wilbur Smith

| Thanks guy's, I tried the Barnes 140 & 150 TSX, boy are they long. The accuracy was less than I was happy with, hence the swap to the Interbonds. I may try them again with a different powder. |

| I use the 110 gr TSX in my 270 WSM.Which is a Tikka t-3 lite.It just shoots little tiny groups with them.I think they would do just fine on Camel.Length wise they are about equal to a 130 gr. Spire point, but hold together very well at high velocity. |

| Hi Bushchook, We spoke a while back on another shooting question. That load you mentioned sounds great, I couldn't get that kind of speed out of mine, what rifle are using, mine is a Winchester Coyote, 24" barrel and WW cases.I picked the VV165 on the suggestion of a fellow shooter, I've also got 2213sc, which is the powder I'm trying with the IB's. still not getting the speed you are. |
