I see Speer finally removed them from their website. They still have reloading data for what's out there. I heard rumors about dangerous pressure issues when using anything but their specific load data. No secret they were nowhere to be found for at least a year.

kind of a pity - the 7mm 175's were incredibly accurate in my Merkel. On the other hand I'm not sure how well they'd penetrate relative to a more sturdy design.

Still, they really shot well.

Robert

Speer seems to be really struggling.

First they introduce the Deep Shock line of bullets. Then they quickly canceled them

Next they introduced the deep curl line of bullets. And I t took them a couple of years to roll them out.

Meanwhile They announced they were canceling the hot core line of bullets.

Then they cancelled the Deep Curls, and brought back the Hot Cores.

But it took a year from the time they cancelled the DCs, before they acknowledged they were cancelled on their website.

Kinda sad, and makes one wonder who's running the train.

I'm waiting for them to put the TBBC back on the market.

I tried the 80 grain 6mm Deep Curls, don't know if it was the twist of my barrel or the bullet. All I know is my rifle wouldn't shoot them well. Guess I'll stick the the 70 grain NBT until someone else produces a good light hunting bullet that works in a 1:12 twist barrels.

I still have a box of Deep Shok bullets. I am convinced that they worked so well, that they are now the new Grand Slam bullets which now cost considerably more then when they were sold as the Deep Shok. And they cost far less to make then the old dual core GS. If you remember, the old GS went away right after the deep shok did, and the DS had the exact same description as the new GS..

Personally I dont like what is going on with Speer since ATK took over. They used to produce a good bullet for a good value and now they are trying to increase their market value with little more than hype.

They were my favorite bullet manufacturer. But not anymore. I believe that it used to be a relatively small operation ran by folks with a hands on approach. Now it seems like the bean counters have taken over. The DS bullet was breakthru technology. But then ATK got their meathooks in Speer and nothing has been the same since.

With all that said my sons .243 really shoots the 90 grain Deep Shocks and I'd like to find more of them. Last year he shot a nice sized 4x4 Mule Deer with it and the bullet was very effective, no bullet recovered due to an exit.

I thought the Deep Curl Handgun bullets were still available.

I still have some loads with the JSWCHP which I thought were great for deer !! From comments I assume that was dropped do to people who couldn't follow instructions about minimum velocity !!

I'm sure they are still available from handguns since the Fusion/DeepCurl concept was borrowed from Gold Dots.

On another note, I was able to pick up some Magtips on clearance about 3 years ago for about $12 a box. I hear they are also discontinued. Supposed to be a tough bullet that still opens a low speeds.

I stocked up on a bunch of the 160 gn 7mm's. I believe they still make a few Mag tips. I think the 165 gn .30 cals and one or two others, but most of the mag tips unfortunately have gone away. They dont have the highest BC, but they are a very versatile, deadly bullet.
