Not sure if this is old news or not, but it sounds like the 550 FS will not be offered next year. I had been thinking about getting one and was curious how long I'd have to make a purchase since some other 550 models are already off the market. I emailed CZ and got this response:

The 550 FS is being discontinued for 2018, however our Safari 550 models will remain. Please let us know if you have any further questions!

Thanks,

Not surprised. CZ has been phasing out the various 550 models little by little over the past several years other than the bigbores. Thank goodness I bought a 550 FS last summer.

Like most gun makers CZ finds there's more profit in the newer, cheaper to manufacture push feeds. Besides the majority of new gun buyers aren't hunters any more and the ones who are are more interested in price over anything else.

It's a different generation of gun owners today and they have different priorities.

Yeah, I hadn't been following things very closely and didn't realize what was going on. But since I had my eye on a 550 FS for a while, I decided now is the time to get one...

Yes get it now. I'm enjoying mine.

I did have to smooth out the feed ramp a bit so it would feed properly. CZ seems to leave out the deburring step in their manufacturing process.

Man, glad I got my 550 in 9.3 while I had a chance.

Might have to pick up an extra 550 action or two while I have a chance.

Speaking of discontinued CZs, ...

... I'd been looking around for the 557 Carbine in '06 but couldn't find any in stock. Turns out, these have been discontinued as well.

Wanted something short and handy for brush/bush carry, and with sturdy iron sights. Didn't want to have to default to a Savage Hog Hunter, or some such.

Sorry to hear this. My 550 in 9,3 worked very hard for us in Namibia.
