The rifle weighs 7 lb 11 oz with the Conquest.

99, what scale are you using to weigh it? What's the scope weigh? I assume your weight is without rounds and sling?

Thanks,

Brad

Yea I've bugged Talley a little bit about the 1pc lightweight mounts for the 8400. I'll continue every time I talk to them.........DJ

Savage99,

VERY nice rifle. If the Montana version had been available when I bought my Rem700 Ti I think that is what I would be shooting today.

I have about the same setup on my 700 Ti (7mm08). Conquest 3.5x10 with the Tally one piece mounts, holds zero very well.

Keep up the range reports, I'm thinking my next rifle will be a 270wsm. Thanks.

I just got back from a calibration company. This rifle weighs 7.60 lbs. The weight I read on my old scale would be 7 lb, 9.6 oz in decimals. So my scale reads high at that range.

The Zeiss site shows the 3-9 Conquest at 15 oz and 5 oz is about on for the rings, screws and bases. So taking 20 oz or 1.25 lbs. Thus this rifle sans scope and mounts goes 6.35 lbs.

Cool! OK, one more question... mind pulling the stock off the action and weighing it seperately... I'm VERY curious to know its weight!

Not today. I am running a first shot point of impact test as the load development is done.

When I find my misplaced mount rings I will take the stock off again and weigh it.

I did weigh it before and if my memory is correct it was about 32 oz on the scale that reads high. So maybe that's 30 oz or so.

The scale is an old baby scale that goes to 24 lbs. These are spring scales. I do zero it but it has never been calibrated.

The 2004 Kimber catalog shows all of the 8400 Montana's going 6 lb, 2 oz. I spoke with Kimber at the time when the Montana 8400 stocks had been finalized and testing had been completed. I was told that they came in just a few ounces over what the catalog had said.

So adding an ounce for the 270 bore over the 30 and what they said on how the stock weighs more perhaps the rifle would go about 6 lbs, 7 oz.

The 3-9 Conquests go about 15 oz and the mounts would be 5 more as the rings are medium extensions. Taking the 20 oz off of the 7 lbs, 11 oz my scale shows comes to 6 lbs, 7 oz which matches what I heard above from Kimber.
