Have any of you gentleman played around with, or know of anyone who has, any wildcats in 9,3. I'm intrigued with the 9,3x64 but that brass seems a bigger pain to get than the more common x62 brass and none of it is what I would call cheap. Is there a cartridge made off of anyting like the 338wm etc. or the RUM's? If so I'd like to hear about it. Thanks

Sorry about the typo. I of course mean wildcats. Just wanted to make that clear before someone went on a rant about the intelligence of posters or something I've seen more made out of less [Wink]

If you ask one of our Finnish friends, I'm sure they'd let you in on the 9.3x53R. Basically a nagant round necked up.

The brass isn't that big a pain these days but if I was going to do a wildcat, it would be a 9.3/338 win....That should do it all...Keep in mind all the 9.3 bullets are designed for milder velocities such as the 62 and 64..To use a bigger case and run them faster might be an exercise in bullet disaster...

There have been a few wildcats in Sweden made on a shortend 375 H&H case and aslo on the 404 Jeffery.

Harald Wolf wrote an article about the 9,3X70, you can download it from Hatari times website. I know there have been a wildcat 9,3 based on the 8X68 case.

atkinson, I have to agree regarding the bullet selection , but there is alos a selection of premium bullets like partition, A-frames, solid rhino shank, Barnes X that would hold up very well.

The latest factory round is 9,3X66 sako, and is really close to the 375 H&H from the articles I have read.

Cheers

Had a 9.3-300 Win Mag a few years back on a P14 Enfield. It was kind of a neat toy, 270 gr Speers @ 2850 fps. Sold it to a young fellow who wanted it way more then me, but now I kind of miss it. - Dan

CARR4570 i've got a 9.3x375 Dakota that i bought from a very good friend after three years of begging [Embarrassed] I know i could have just built one myself but i wanted that one. Anyway its built on a VZ24 Mauser action with a PME saftey and a Blackburn box. Barrel is a 25" Kreiger with a pre 64 Win. Safari sight and a barrel band front swivel. Its stocked in English Walnut with a Pacmyer pad and weights 9lbs. My friend said he only cronographed a couple of his loads as he was not really conserned about it but he said he got 3050fps with a 250 Swift A-Frame over 91 grains of RL19 and no signs of pressure and most important too him .75" groups. All you need to do is neck down .375 Dakota to 9.3 and load em up. I'm going to test some 250 North Forks and some 250 Swifts in a few weeks and will let you know how it goes if you are interested.
