I'm looking for a rifle in 308 win with a 1-10 twist barrel. I really like the accumark, but the price is more than I want to spend. It seems that most (all?) Ruger rifles have a 1-10 in 308. Any stong opinions about the m77? I've never owned anything from Ruger.

I read that Tikka makes a 1-11 in 308, would the spin be enough for a 175mk in 308?

Do you like remingtons?

I would buy these all day over a Ruger

a 180 grain bullet is not the place to be with a 308. stick to 165 grain pills unless your shots will be short.

I had it in my mind that remington barrels had a 1-12 twist. Don't know where I got that. This makes the decision easy, I am a Remington fan. Thanks for your help.

I want to try 1k yard target shooting, a stretch for the 308 I know, but that's my interest in the 175mk.

A nice affordable .308 is the Howa 1500 (actually Weatherby Vanguard in sheep's clothing).

A 1 in 12 twist will easily stabilize the 175 SMK. A true 1 in 12 will also handle the 190 SMK. Do your self a favor and don't try to take the 168 gr. SMK out to 1K. It won't go there reliably. Hope this helps some.

Savage has 1in10 in 308. The 11 series for a walk-around rifle or the 12 series for a varmint weight. you could also consider the Stevens 200 for a walk-around.
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!

Remington 700 works well for me.....and the new Winchester featherweights will do fine too.

"standard" remingtons have 1:10" barrels, the Bull barrel and "Varmint rifles" have 1:12"

One in eleven will work with the 175 Sierra MK.

In most 1 in 12's I have found that the 168 MK usually shoots better.

I would not get too hung up on whether it has a 10 in or 12 in twist. I have both in 308 and they both work well. Far better to get the rifle that fits you the best and that you like the best in terms of fit and balance, the way the safety operates, the magazine you prefer, and has a good trigger.

I own a Browning A-Bolt "Hunter" in .308 which I find very accurate and lightweight as well.

Hello,
You might want to take a long look at the offerings by Tikka. Very reasonably priced, good adjustable trigger, most I have seen fired have been accurate way beyond their price range.
Lot of value for the dollars spent.

Ruger M77's are my favorites in terms of value for the $.

My favorite of those is the RSI which I have in 308.
