Sendero, good looking rig, would like to see the scope mount situation up close.

Just curious, where in NM, I'm heading that way Sept. 15-17 myself.

Regards--Don

Karl and Terry,
That is a handsome rifle for sure. Thanks for sharing the photos with us.

Terry,
We'll be expecting a range report pronto and then a photo of you and the speed goat in a month or so. How are you going to scope it?

Fish30114,
My son and I are hunting with Kiowa in Vaughn, NM . We will be there Sept. 15-17 also. We booked this hunt with GregR who posts here. Give me a PM if you are hunting there also and we'll meet up.

Hi Forrest, yes..hopefully a nice antelope next month! The guys at Hein are scoping my rifle for me with a 3.5X10-40 Leupold.

Something to be proud of, for sure!

While you're here Karl, are you taking deposits for the Mauser action yet?

Finally received the rifle and scoped it with a Khales 3X9 TDS. Went to the range last night and dialed it in at 100 yards. Shooting 180gr Noslers..Fed factory I'm getting 1 1/4" groups at one hundred. Today I finished sighting in and shot six shots at 305 yards..3 3/4" group. Not incredible groups but not my best day at the range either and I'm anxious to shoot some 180gr TSX handloads, and other handloads, but that will be after season is over. The 180gr TSX Fed factory loads are shooting very well in my 300HH so I suspect they will shoot well in the WM as well.

I received several groups from Hein: 165gr Fusions hovering at about 3/4" and 180gr Fed right about an inch.

I checked the feeding as soon as I got the rifle and it feeds and ejects real well. The action is very smooth. Like a pre 64 action except a little tighter more precise feel. I tried to feed one up the spout but it wouldn't go. I'm sure they could bevel the extractor for this and something someone might consider if ordering one of these.

The workmanship on the rifle is just topnotch. The rust blue is beautiful and the inletting is perfect..all the way around. A friend commented: "looks like the metal was melted and poured in the fiberglass". The Talley bases fit the top of the receiver like a glove. The trigger is a smooth contoured trigger that is at the rear of the trigger guard, a very nice custom touch. I also got a 3 panel, straight bolt...my first one...and I like that quite a bit.

The weight of the rifle will probably go a full nine pounds with scope and rings which is bordering a little on the heavy side but will be nice with full power loads. I had a #3 Pacnor barrel installed. The pacnor contour is heavy, compared to a #3 Lilja barrel I have on another rifle, and the pacnor would probably be just right for a .338. I assume a #4 contour to be about right for a .375....

At any rate...the rifle is well put together and excellent craftsmanship. If you have one of these ordered I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
