Hi all.

In the 8*60S SP 186 gr bullet, WHAT bullet does PRVI use?
How is it for large game, deer, moose and so?

Happy hunting.

I’ve fired a few thousand rounds of Prvi ammunition, and in my experience the factory loads use their own bullets. I’ve also used a lot of their bullets in a variety of sizes for reloading and have found them to be reasonably accurate and of good enough quality for deer and elk. Expansion and penetration have left me satisfied.

I’ve fired 200 rounds of their .264 Winchester Magnum ammunition and taken half a dozen animals with nothing wanting in the bullet department.

9.3 Moose,

Privi manufactures two loads for the 8x60S and I'm pretty sure their bullets are proprietary; the Grom (translated=Hammer) is for sure.

They load a 196 gr. Spitzer which is a vanilla-flavored fare Cup'n Core 323" bullet; very typically the Europeans prefer the heavier weight in this cartridge.

Having said that, Privi's Cup 'n Core bullets have performed well for us, too; all 30 caliber - 308 Win, .30/06 Sprg. & 300 Win Mag.

The .323" 185 grain Grom is a different Kettle-of-Fish altogether. Basically an odd-ball weight guilding metal mono bullet due to it's mono construction this makes the bullet the same size as the 196 grained Cup 'n Core. They have just a smidgen of a lead filled core in the nose. The bullet noses always appear to have a blob of lead topped onto them, giving them a sorta, weird Ice Cream Cone appearance that you'd expect from a cheap-o bulk bullet. I can only attest from personal experience that their disguise is truly deceptive - they perform way outa their Cost & Appearance League.

The reason for the weird-looking blobby nose is that the bullet's bonded lead nose does not lend itself well to forming after bonding. The Grom's terminal performance in .308" 170 grain weight has been in our experience simply OUTSTANDING.

We've shot a considerable quantity of .30/06 Sprg & 300 WM with Privi's 170 gr. .308" Grom bullet and they are truly a solid value in factory hunting ammunition. I also load the same bullet as a component in the 300 Witherbee - despite their "blobby-nosed" appearance the cartridges in both accuracy and terminal perfomance are second to none.

In 30 caliber; not .323" I took 40 rounds of the 170 gr. Grom loaded in my 300 Witherbee to Namibia last year as a "test". Kudu, Zebra, Blue Wildebeest and Cull Oryx all tipped over very neatly, most DRT. We recovered two bullets (Kudu & Zebra) and their appearance was almost identical to what you would have expected from a Nolser Parition - the lead-filled tip perfectly formed into a mushroom and the mono-metal core penetrating. Our general concensus was WOW!

Based on our experience I'd consider the Grom bullet as a solid choice for the game you've listed.

Cheers,

Hello to Norway from England!

I have about 100 new, un-used, unfired Privi Partizan empty cases in 8x60S that I had for a rifle in that calibre that I then sold. Plus some more cases that are truly once or twice only fired.

I would be happy to sell them to you in Norway if local law allows me to send them to you.

PM me.

But back to your question. Here's a link to the Privi website.

http://www.prvipartizan.com/search_a.php

Where they list the 196 grain as "SP" so I suppose standard "cup and core" and the 185 grain as, as others note, as the "Grom" bullet.

Hope it helps!
