check Hodgdon's loading data and compare it to the .325 WSM as a short action round. I've been looking at closely as an elk hunting round as I've become quite fond of the short actions in short rifles. There's little doubt in my mind that it'll do the job on anything the planet has to offer short of Dangerous game and will handle that too given the need to do so. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." If only shooting factory ammo, you'll probably do pretty good. From an article on both RCM's a few months back, neither editor was able to get published velocity in handloads. Hornady is using a proprietary powder they said will not be marketed to handloaders. Keep the barrel short too. Another article raved about how the RCM's beat the WSM's....in 20" barrels, but when put through 24" tubes, the WSM's beat them. My guess is a faster burning powder meant to utilize short barrels. Outside of that, if you're buying a short barrel Ruger and only going to use factory ammo, by all means have at it! It has very impressive ballistics! If you think every possible niche has been filled already, thank a wildcatter! | |||
