mojaveDoner shoots
Bought a used Remington 700 CDL in 30/06 and bought a Mag. bolt to have it built into a 300 H&H. The Remington 700 CDL came with leupold scope rings and bases so I thought I would install a used Redfield 3x9 and see how it shot.5 shots in less than an inch with 150gr Ballistic tip and IMR4895 powder.Looks like I'm going to have to find something else for my 300 H&H project.

taylorce1Yep you screwed up! Never ever shoot the donor rifle. I've got one coming in a few weeks that I'm going to have to tear apart as soon as it arrives. Then I've got one I'm going to put back in the stock and see if it shoots.

mojaveI Think I was on the right track. A bolt out of a 7mm Rem. Mag will fit in my Remington 700 30/06 and 300 H&H fits the bolt face of the 7mm Rem. Mag bolt.So I'm thinking all I need is just to have a Remington 700 30/06 rebarreled and chambered to 300 H&H and have it head spaced to the 7mm Rem. Mag bolt.

The H&H is a longer cartridge than the 7mm RM. Plus since your rifle is a .30-06 the magazine is too short as well for the H&H but will work fine if you went .300 Win Mag. You might have to do some work to make it feed as well. The cheaper option would have been to find a Remington M700/721 in .300 H&H already and do some cosmetic touches to finish the rifle up.
