I saw that Ray Atkinson had recently mentioned a restore and refurbish project of ours that was just completed by John Rigby and Company in London. Since my Photobucket account seems to be in limbo, I have provided a link for those that might enjoy seeing the results of the project:

Happy to share it with the AR crew! I am not a great photographer and this rifle deserves to be properly staged and photographed. My pictures just don’t fully do the rifle justice. Some of the angles in my pics distort the stock dimensions and make it appear thicker/deeper than it actually is in person. Even so, I am glad to share it. Thanks for the kind comments.

Was Rigby able to give you any details of its history?

Seeing this restoration is quite unbelievable to my old and addled brain. Truly a golden gun. Oh, to be healthy with a little $$$ in the bank.
They have been making essentially the same rifle for 129 years!

Hi Duckear...I just finished adding that component to the linked article/images. In summary, after physically inspecting the rifle, Rigby was able to certify the rifle was a vintage Rigby. They also noted at some stage in the rifles life the serial number had been removed. It was therefore issued a new number from their ledgers.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to know anything further about the provenance of the rifle beyond that which I have already described in the revised article. We know it ended-up in the Sudan but not who purchased the rifle and took it there.

Cheers,
Shawn

Did anyone note the altered rear tang on the "original" 100 year old Rigby ??????????????

Why they didn't even flare the cocking piece slot

Must be a fake

Thank God for that! but you might want to clear that up, some folks will surly miss your humor! At least I think it was intelligent sarcasm inasmuch as the modification you refer to is an American abomination and a guide to failure to function if done wrong.. tu2
