I recently picked up a 35 Whelen with a 1:10 twist barrel. I know most folks recommend either a 1:12 or a 1:14. What are the advantages and disadvantages of a 1:10 twist .358" barrel?

Theoretically, at least, it shouldn't shoot 250 gr. or lighter bullets well, thereby limiting your load options considerably. It will be interesting to read if there are any hands-on reports, as this is an unusual spec.

What is the rifle? Sounds like a project someone did up as I can't recall any factory offerings like this.
