I was wondering if anyone has heard of this?

Do you mean "Cloward?" If so, he's a riflemaker in Washington State. He designed the Rimrock stock and builds a lot of long range rifles. Let me know if it's him and I'll post his phone number. Okie John.

Jim Cloward is excellant. As O J stated he is famous for long range rifles. He has donated a few rifles to our SCI Chapter and sold allot more. Accuracy with his loads is ALWAYS under .5 MOA. He is sometines a bit grumpy but don't let it phase you. He is in Seattle. O J Is the Rimrock the old Pacific Research stock? I know he designed that one.

Jim Cloward built my match rifle and has done a little work on my long-range hunting rifle. GREAT rifle smith. He knows what he's doing and does it well. Quite an accomplished long range competetive shooter in his own right. If I recall correctly he won the 1000 yard Wimbledon cup some years ago. I cannot think of anyone I'd rather have work on one of my bolt guns. Regards, Guy

Rimrock and Pacific Research are the same stock; the name changed when Borden bought the company. Jim Cloward has installed barrels for me, put Scout mounts on a custom 338-06 and rechambered a Mauser from 300 Savage to 308. He sold me a M-70 he built in 338-06 that performed exactly as he said it would: 250 gr. Partitions at 2,550 fps under 1 MOA with a safe load. He has also done some fairly peculiar general gunsmithing per my request. No matter what the job, everything was done to my complete satisfaction. A couple of weeks ago, he sold his shop, left Seattle and moved to a spot about thirty miles north of here. I don't have contact information with me but I will post it tomorrow if you like. As for the "grouch" comment, just don't waste his time. He has a lot of experience and a lot of opinions, but if you're serious you'll find him to be a smart, funny guy who really knows his craft and is ready to use his talents to ensure that your project to come out the way you want it. He also hunts in Africa several times each year and builds dangerous game rifles on M-70 and ZKK-602/CZ-550 actions. Like a lot of other people in the gun business, he does not suffer fools gladly, so if you're just a tire-kicker, you're on your own. What are your questions about the Cloward 338? Okie John.
