| The 9.3x62's strong suit has always been versatility. Though it's not ideal light game it certainly will do. Early rifles were light but the original 286-gr. load only did 2,150 fps if that. Today's ammo is hotter. In my CZ 550 American the recoil of a 286-gr. Partition at 2,350 was greater than that of a 30-06, yet it lacked the jabbing quality of a high-velocity magnum. I tend to be recoil shy, but I had no problem using it well in a hurry at ranges from just off the muzzle to about 120m. Hope this helps, Okie John. |

| I've used my 9.3x62 on roe deer extensively. Mainly 247 grs RWS Kegelspitz, 285 grs Norma Roundnosed. Except for the first ever doe I shot, they all were flattened on the spot. No excessive meat damage, very nice all-around round. Bullet choice becomes an issue if you want to make it a big boomer in my opinion; the RN Norma's didn't penetrate all that much on big stags. Enough to kill them though, but I'd not want to take those bullets on tougher game.
Good luck with your decision.

| My Synthetic stocked Mauser 9.3x62 weighs between eight and nine pounds. It's easy on the shoulder and easy to carry all day long. Accuracy is under an inch with either the Nosler 286gr partition or the Barnes "X" @2,400fps. I've taken 1 whitetail, 2 impala and 1 warthog with it, not a very large data base. The Nosler does a bit of damage but less than my .308 with Ballistic tips. The X seems to cause less damage, I may try them again this year if deer season features synthetic stock weather (rain, snow, sleet ) hth Rick |

| I have shot about everything with a 9.3x62 and a lot of stuff with a 9.3x64...
The 286 gr. Nosler is a real killer, but its also very good at ruining meat and bruising...The Northfork is better and I really like the 320 gr. Woodleigh if ranges are not too far...but I have to say that I really make a 9.3x62 cook with a 26" barrel and warm loads and even in a 23 inch barrel it is destructive with that bullet....286 gr. Nosler at 2520 lays low about anything...and that is part of the problem..Loaded to a standard 2300 or so it shouldn't be nearly as destructive.
I have used the Northfork flat point solid on deer size game and I really like it for open country..and of course all the Woodleigh bullets are great...
From duiker to Cape Buffalo the 9.3x62 works fine, but its not a stopper if you get a charge unless you hit spine or brain, I wouldn't think...
Just a really nice caliber, for all around shot what shows up kinda gun.... |

| Well, I'm new to the 9.3x62 world. After wanting one for a lot of years I bought a CZ last summer. The extent of my "take" with the gun so far is one whitetail spike buck that barely weighed 100 lbs on the hoof. Shot it at about 75 yards with the S&B 285 gr load on the rifle's maiden voyage into the woods. He was dead before he hit the ground with perfect performance from the big, relatively slow bullet. I hope to use it on something more substantial in the near future, probably a big porker. |

| I took a nice gemsbok this September with my 9.3x64. Using a 286gr Partition over 71gr of H-4350 I get a tick under 2400fps. The bullet was recovered just under the off side of the hide retaining 247gr of bullet weight. The range was 190 paces. |

| No experience with white tails yet ... but my cheap CZ 550 American (bought used from a board member here) took Impala and Warthog with the same ease as Wildebeast, Kudu, and Zebra in May. Used 286 fr Nosler Partitions at 2420 fps. No recovered bullets.
Great caliber! |

| Speer makes a very acceptable 270grn semi spitzer bullet in 9,3. Have shot most things from Impala to Buff with this bullet. Not a suitable buff or eland bullet but great on the smaller stuff. Load it to 2400fps. Typically less meat damage on Impala or Kudu sized game than a .308 produces with military ball.
I have two rifles, one 8lb Mauser and one 7 lb Damulin.
Have tried some of Norma's 235grn bullets @ 2600fps and RWS 258grn bullets as well. Work grate on pigs, baboons etc, but too expensive to go out and play with. Shot a nice Leopard with the RWS load. Superb performance. |

| I have shot 20 or so grassy's with my cz 550 lux using the speer 270 gr 9.3 bullet and it worked well broke large hip bones on rear shots and gave decent penetration. Granted it's not a large game bullet but for pigs and roo's it is fine...infact it is good.
The 9.3x62 is a great caliber and I also think with the 250 gr Nosler BT or another highre BC bullet I doubt it would trail a 30/06 by that much as far as flat shooting goes. Also woodleigh make some 320 gr softs for the 9.3 which I reckon would be great penetrators.
I also love my cz lux it is light and handy and with a leupold 2-7 makes a good all round rig. |

| A compressed load of VV-N550 (compressed seems to work best for me with this powder in a number of calibers)in Norma 9.3x62 brass from a 24" rebored (LaBounty) barrel. Start at around 63 grs and proceed safely onward. My loads have been fired 7 times and primer pockets are still snug enough. A killer load and exceptionally accurate averaging 3 shots inside 2" at 200 yards. |
