I am going to build a .303 and was wondering if an 11" twist would stabilze bullets from 150-215 grains. Also, the rifel will only have iron sights. What type of changes in POI will I see at 100 yards? Should I file the sights for ~170 grains and let the 150's and 215's hit high and low? Doepending on the difference in POI, I could change out the front sights to match the load a little better. Thanks!

1 in 10 was the standard twist afaik, 1 in 11 may not stabilize the 215's. It's mercy, compassion and forgiveness I lack; not rationality.

I'm going to be doing the same thing, Marc. Whose barrel are you using? I was hoping LW would do mine in the original English pattern but I didn't see .312 (or .311 for that matter) on their web site. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

LW makes a .311" barrel. Give Woody a call and order what you need. Jason "Chance favors the prepared mind."

I have a BSA Mk.III* beater that has had the charger guide removed and a brand new South African surplus barrel fitted. This rifle stabilizes my 225-grain .312 softpoints very nicely. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

tigger: I was looking at PacNor, and all they offer is 11" twist. Krieger offers other choices, but thsi rifle will not require ultimate accuracy, so I was going with a cheaper one if possible. Bill: What twist is the SA surplus bbl?

Bill-any idea what the twist is for the South African barrerl that shoots the 225's so well? ALso, who makes those 225 grain .311 bullets? Thanks!

Marc, Have you looked at Woodleigh lately? I know they make some heavies for the .303 but its been awhile since I have reviewed their website. If you need some 200+ grn bullets, you might check them out. Jason "Chance favors the prepared mind."
