I posted this thread over on the reloading forum, thought I'd get more responses here. I just recieved a care package from Midsouth. Included within are the 225 gr Barnes TSX I ordered. I've loaded a batch with 77.0gr RL-22. Any other suggestions? I'd love to get 2900 fps with some degree of accuracy in my Pre-64 M-70. Doug

I used 70 gr of AA 4350 for about 2800, and can tell you that is plenty for killing game. If you will send me your e-mail address, I'll send you pictures of recovered bullets. Terry tblauwkamp@superior-sales.com Remember, forgivness is easier to get than permission.

I've used 225 TSX's over 71 gr. IMR 4350. My gun shoots this load into .4 to.7" groups at 2855 fps. average. Geronimo

77.5 gr of RL-19 for 2912 fps w/230 gr FS. That gives me between .8-1.1" groups.

I loaded some 225IBs for a buddy at work, 73grs RE19 went like .375"(right around 2800fps) for 2 shots(Hornadys method for working up a load), that seemed to be the max as 74grs. started flattening the primers more than I like, but no sticky bolt. FWIW, RE19 is supposed to be the ideal powder according to the canister and Alliants website. BTW, 73grs. RE22 is the max for the BarnesX bullet in my Alliant catalog with a velocity of 2705, if you want 2800fps, RE19 should give you that, with the Hornady bullet though, Interbond is less expensive, too. And has garnered my admiration as an accurate and deadly bullet. Jay
