Having had a .284 and .280 Ackley, I now have several .280's including one I built on a pre'64 Model 70 Winchester action. Try Norma brass, Rem 9 1/2m primer, Norma MRP and either a 145gr Speer Grand Slam, or 150 gr Nosler Partition. The load that I use gives 2956 fps instrumental on an Oehler chronograph and I can load cases 10x + Good luck, I would try finding a pre'64 Model 70 action to build the rifle on; you'll never be sorry.

Try Norma brass

thumb I started using it on my 280s and then used it as the parent for the majority of my wildcats. I always found it to give several grs additional capacity. Many call it soft but I've found it you load it to the pressures the case was designed it will last as long as anythng else.

As usual just my $.02
