For those of you who have handled both, what is the difference between the two synthetic stocks? I do like the fit of the Finnlight, but don't have ready access to a 75 Stainless.

Not much is the answer. The Finnlite stock is actually a tiny bit lighter, I weighed both once upon a time. The Finnlite also has contrasting color rubber 'inserts' in the grip area and forend, where the Standard stainless has similar colored inserst. There is a lot of flex in both of these stocks, but IMO there is more flex in the Finnlite stock. The biggest difference in the two rifles is the shorter, fluted, barrel on the Finnlite. Good shooting--Don

Thanks Fish. I am looking to pare down some of my firearms and was thinking of a 75 Finnlight, but I noticed that there are more 75 Stainless models available in the used market. The wood stocked 75's are too heavy for my liking. How do the synthetics compare with the wood stocked ones? The factory specs show all weigh 7.5#!!

Here in scandinavia, there are actually two different syn.stocks. The early ones were really heavy, but they made it lighter.(cant remember when..) The early ones may be as heavy as the wood-version. I sold my latest 75, cuz of the weight.(It was one of the early) It was actually heavier than my Sako AV .375, and it wasnt just a bit. The handling of the AV is sooo superior to ANY 75!

That's why there is chocolate and vanilla, I feel exactly the opposite of asti, I much prefer the handling of the 75 over any of the other Sako series. In fact, I have a couple of the old A series in the 75 Geometry, as well as a couple of the new 85's that I had put into McMillan Edge technology stocks with the 75 Geometry. I will weigh one each of the wood stocks and the two different syns, I've got a bunch of takeoffs in the shop and let you know--the Finnlite stock is definitely lighter than the wood, I would guess the stainless 'std' one is in between.

Of course you`re correct Fish. I feel the AV handles better. That doesnt mean it does for everyone. I once had a Finnlight, and I liked that one better than the std. synthetic. For what it`s worth...

Interesting point asti, I actually prefer the Finnlite as well, when comparing against each other, but I always figured it was simply cause I like light rifles......the geometry and actions are the same--tomAtoe, tomAHtoe..... Take care--Don
