I have a Winchester Model 94 Limited Edition Centennial 30-30 and was curious about putting a sling on it. It does not have swivel studs nor a saddle ring and I really dont want to put any in it. I'd like to keep it original. I was looking at the type slings used for Muzzle loader rifles and wondered if anyone has used them before. I was looking at this one: http://www.cowboyneeds.com/062.html . I can see where the leather could eventually mar or scuff the barrel blueing tho.

Just random thoughts . . . Not criticisms.

You bought a fancy rifle and your going to use a sling to carry it in the field, and your worried about a little blue getting rubbed??

How does anyone actually see over the sling to see the sights?

With that ML sling I'd be tempted to use the front sling clamp that goes around most of the tube magazine. If your careful it shouldn't leave any marks. But I suspect if your going to use this gun you'll get some marks somewhere.

Or maybe one of those neat soft leather full length sleeves with a sling on that instead.
