It is a great round, especially if you reload. If you don't reload then that would be a negative.

Great topic. I'm tossing the same idea for another project rifle. Read up on this caliber after I built my 338-06AI

I think you'll find it to be a fantastic "wildcat" version of the great 338WM. Treat it as any other wildcat--load your own--and it will be great.

The 330 Dakota is likely best described as a modern improved update of the 333 Jeffery designed to fit within a 3.4” magazine; most likely would really come into its own with >270gr monometal bullets its length was increased to 3.5” COAL matching the Jeff’s COAL.

I do reload and part of the deal was brass and dies.

I had a Ruger No 1 rebarreled and so chambered. Brass lasts a long time, I got ten plus shots out of some that I had this was pre norma brass. Its a handloaders deal. Mine would shoot 210 gr Barnes X's so well, I would zero in for 200 yards and be only 4 inches low at 300. I had no real issues other than the rifle was a bit on the heavy side. Its a good cartridge, if you want to fuss with it, hand load I mean, its an easy one to find a good load.

Midway has 330 Dakota Brass and Redding makes 330 Dakota dies.

Most of the newer reloading books have 330 Dakota data and if you want to send me a PM with your email I wll send you an excel spreadsheet with my reloading data.

Mine loves the 225 Northfork and 225 Nosler Acurrabond and they have a MV~3000fps; you can get ~2800fps+ with 250 grain bullets.

I have a Winchester Model 70 in 330 Dakota. I load 210 grain TSX over 70.5 grains of Varget and get about 2850 fps from an 18.5" barrel. It kicks no worse than the 338 Win Mag. I've taken a mountain goat and a 7' black bear with the gun and it put both of them down with ease. The only draw back to the caliber is the expensive brass and it being mostly a handload proposition.
