Since finding Accurate Reloading Forums I've read a lot about the 9.3x62mm. Read a lot outside the forums as well. However, now I want one. So the question is Where in the USA can you find a good 9.3x62mm rifle? Of course that also implies, which is the best rifle available in the US in 9.3x62mm?

I feel kind of like the other fellow who was going to tell his wife that it was all your fault and hope for the best... [Wink]

I heard that Charles Daily was going to add the 9.3X62 to the mauser line that they are importing ( the old Interarms mark X ) But haven't seen that in print. CZ-USA is bringing thier Chech mausers in. I have a 9.3X62mm in a model 550 from CZ-USA and it seem OK except for the bedding. Lots of room for accu-glass there.

The only one being imported in numbers is the CZ550, which is an exceptional value. High quality rifles by Sako, Heym, Brno, Sauer and Zoli are available in limited numbers, as are older Mannlicher-Schoenauers and Mausers.
You can find the CZ's just about on every website. Let me know if you want to locate one of the others.

A CZ550 of some varient (american, lux, etc.) is tough to beat. Midway sells Norma brass and speer makes el-cheapo 270 gr. round noses.

die are made by rcbs amongst others.

Thanks! I hadn't found the site before. [Smile]

Now another question, does anyone know who imports the Brno 98 rifles? Do you think we could convince Ruger to do a run? [Wink]

Now a stainless synthetic MK11 in 9.3x62 would be a good thing !!.

Could a plain old Ruger 30/06 be chambered into a 9.3x62 ??

Hobie:
The premium Brno 98 rifles http://www.zbrojovka.com/a_arms.htm do not currently have an importer. I have one of their full stock 9.3x62 rifles up at Griffin & Howe getting a few refinements added. I'll post it as soon as it is finished.
Ruger needs to make their Express rifle in 9.3x62. (They should also get rid of that dog leg bolt and put on a real safety, while they're at it).

A friend and I just hunted 14 days with identical CZ 550 in 9.3x62. Wonderful rifle and great cartridge. His rifle was bedded and mine was not He also took his trusty Ruger 338 (which he has used on 9 previous African trips) but he ended up using the 9.3 all the time. Yesterday he shot a group .75MOA @300yds. He has decided the bedded CZ is as close to a one gun battery as one could want. The bedding did tighten it up by 40% but it wasn't shabby before.
I'm a real believer in this caliber and this rifle.

Hobie,
I have purchased 4 CZ's from Phil at the CZ Connection just north of Atlanta. He is a good guy to do business with and has the best prices. I purchased 550 Americans in 9.3x62 and a 7x57 and subsequently had both rechambered to the 64mm Brenneke length ie 9.3x64 and 7x64. Real Sweet! Cobalt

Thanks for the help.

Interestingly, my local dealer has one of the .22 LR Scout rifles but didn't know about the 9.3x62 [Roll Eyes] OR the full-stock version. [Eek!] this guy is one of the better and more knowledgeable local store owners. [Frown]

The more I read, the better I like this cartridge.

Sigarms has 9,3 x 62mm Blaser barrels in stock. I have one have shot several animals with it and lots of range time. It is the most accurate 9,3 I have shot in a long time, with the exception of a custom rifle.

The Brno rifles being imported by EAA are low-budget. They are not even listed on Brno's website. The rifles have a matte finish, plastic stock, no sights, simple calibers, etc.
The standard line that is illustrated on the Brno website is of the same quality as the current CZ line, except that the Brno rifles are pure model 98's. They are exported to most European countries and would have to be imported into the US on a individual basis. They retail for about $500 to $2500, depending on model.
