Just opened the little package that came with my 9,3 and lordy those rings are stout! They're almost heavy enough to help soak up some of the recoil. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Bill, They're a bit brutish, but they do work rather well. Mike -------------- DRSS, Womper's Club, NRA Life Member/Charter Member NRA Golden Eagles ... Knifemaker, http://www.mstarling.com

I think CZ used the nose metal from an Abrams Tank to manufacture its CZ 550 Rings. They do, however, work. I ended up buying a set of Talley Steel Rings for my CZ 550 American in 7x57mm and gave to old ones away to a fellow in Texas. I thought they were a tad on the heavy side, but they also looked like hell. One of the posters on these forums came up with a great idea to make them look a whole lot better. Take a dremel tool with the wire brush attachment and wire brush the matt black finish off the rings and then polish the outside of the rings up. Go back with a good, penetrating cold blue and blue them. Just a thought for you. The bottom line is, they are stout as heck and they do work. Tom Purdom

I'll take ugly but stout over pretty and flimsy any day.Jut put a Leupold 4X on the CZ and those rings look like they're welded on. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Bill ! If you go to www.warnescopemounts.com You will find that they make rings for your 550. I think you can get Quick detachable rings if you want. I have a set on my fullstock 7X57, work great ...tj3006 freedom1st

Bill, what kind of ring and clamp screws came with your CZ rings? They used to all have slotted heads, and the ring screws were not hardened, which made them liable to shearing off. But I'm not sure what they are nowadays. I think, but cannot remember for sure, that the rings I got with my latest CZ rifle had torx or hex headed ring screws, and slotted clamp screws. On my first few sets of CZ rings, which came with all slotted head screws, I had my gunsmith change the ring screws to hardened 8-40 torx heads, and I replaced the clamp screws with hardened hex heads. They were all slotted. They didn't feel soft, but who knows? There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Bill, watch the torque on those screws. IMHO, best bet is to head to the hardware store and get metric torx head replacements for the ring screws and metric hex head replacments for the base clamp screws. Based on hard-earned experience. Get some Talleys. They look fine are the lowest around and work like a charm. Their detachables will absolutely return to zero if you want to go that way.
