In your 9.3x62 rifles, what non-lead projectiles have you had the best accuracy with? I have a few boxes of factory Federal 286 Barnes X, but at almost $100 a box loaded I need another option. Goal is at least 250 grain bullet. What are you guys shooting in yours. We have a non-lead requirement in most of California. A lot of my hunts for this winter are in state. This is why I ask.

Start reloading! Matt Matt FISH!! I do reload, just to the point now of having enough brass to get going. My rifle is a Ruger 77 9.3x62 African. Figured I'd see if anyone had a pet load in a non-lead bullet.

I think guys have great luck with the 250 TSX out of the 9.3 Look up John Barnsess article The Medium Mediums. One of these days when I get a 9.3 put together I'll be shooting that same bullet. Seems to work for those who have tried. Good Luck.

I've put a few 250 TSX's through my Helix in 9.3. Heckuva bullet and plenty accurate. I'm currently bleeding through a boatload of 286 Partitions and Hornady IL's. When I get closer to finishing them off I may make the leap to the TSX full time then. Regards, Robert ****************************** H4350! It stays crunchy in milk longer!

Seth, Out of my 9.3x62 Zoli 1900, 57gr of R903 (RL-15) pushing a Barnes 250 TSX gives me 2350fps. 58gr is just at 2400fps and that was more than adequate. Even at 58gr, no sign of excess pressure, so you might be able to go a bit higher. Good luck. Don Life Member SCI &, NRA

Should be able to get 2600.

With a 286gr. Partition I made 2500 fps with 66 grains of Big Game. 2600 should be very doable. Regards, Robert ****************************** H4350! It stays crunchy in milk longer!

90% of the hunting areas in California if not more are non-lead bullets only. Not really a choice out here. Have a pig hunt scheduled for February, have to get my non-lead worked out. I have a couple boxes of 9.3x62 Barnes X stuff, just want to make sure I have all the options if it doesn't work in my favor.

I use Double Tap Safari 250 gr. TTSX in the CA condor range. I have been pleased with their performance. $75 a box!! lb

Personally, I'd use the TSX. Having said that you can find GMX bullets in 250gr. and you can find CEB bullets as well. Idaho, yeah, we're a 90% non-lead state. I think they even changed the rules for upland game birds now - steel shot for them too. Regards, Robert ****************************** H4350! It stays crunchy in milk longer!

Seth - I use almost exclusively 250 and 286 Barnes TSX bullets in my 9.3 x 62 Blaser. Really like the 286 and have taken Hippo, 3 Buff, Croc, Sable, Eland and Leopard and lots of small stuff with this bullet in 9.3's. My other choice would be the CEB bullets. I use them in my 9.3 X 74R Sabatti double with good results. I handload so top these over various charges of Varget powder. If you can find someone to reload for you, the CEB 9.3mm 200gr FB Raptor is a most excellent option.

I use 250 gr TSX & Varget. Excellent accuracy & around 2550 fps for a great load. I tried loading CEB 255 gr HP & they shot about 12 to 18 inches high!! Cannot explain that! "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

I am very happy with the 230 GS Custom. Perfomed nicely, mostly used on wildboars yet.

The 230 gr. GS customs is and awesome bullet and will out penetrate or equal about any 250 or 286 gr. bullet on the market. I have used it a lot in Africa on plainsgame up to and including Eland, and on deer, bear and elk in the USA with perfect success..I suspect the 250 Barnes is a good bullet also. We get reports from all over the world about the boring reliability of this bullet and cartridge. Apart from Germany and the USA above, there are also these: South Africa Central Europe Scandinavia If you want to reload, we have load data available with a couple of American powders and, for ammunition, contact Monolitic Munitions. They are not far from you. We manufacture in the USA now and, although we had a long waiting list, this is now considerably shorter.
