My 9,3x74R Chapuis shoots 285 Hawk .035jkt,
286 Woodleigh Softs, and 286 Nosler Partitions all in the same group at 100 yards with 65gr. of IMR 4831.
I went to the range to see if I could get 286 Woodleigh Solids to "regulate" and hopefully hit in the same group at 100 yards as the others.
I loaded and shot 4 rounds of the following powder charges with the listed results.
All powder charges hit right on for elevation.

63gr. Right bbl 3" right, left bbl 4" left.

63.5gr All shots hit the aiming point forming a group 1" wide by 2" tall. The left bbl shots hit above the right.

64gr. Right bbl hit center, left bbl hit 6" left.
64.5 Right bbl hit center, left bbl 5" left.

This is the typical pattern for this rifle, once both bbls "regulate", if the powder charge is increased the right bbl stays centered and the left shoots wider to the left.
So based on this test 63.5gr with the Woodleigh Solids shoots into the exact same group as my trio of softs. Now I will load some more and test them with the iron sights and at other distances.

sounds like your there!

Few do this, but the first thing one should do with a double is shoot a couple of individual groups with each barrel....Whatever barrel shoots the "worst" is what the gun is capable of doing, end of story...Thought this was as good a place as any to bring that out......Then you know what your after.

That is magnificent!! do not expect much better from a double SXS. Course you can tweak with OAL by playing seating depths but it is just for fun cause only a pipsqueak would be missed by a 1X2 inch kill zone!!

great shooting. wish my SXS double were that close, and we keep working on them for fun.

Only my overunder doubles do better

I'm with Ray on this. My Valmet shoots solids to the same point as Nosler partitions with the same load.
