I just picked up a Mauser in 9.3x62. Can't wait to take it to the range, but I'm wondering what is the best brass for reloading. Lapua and Norma seem to be priced similarly. I see some $27.00/50 pieces of Grafs brass on GunBroker, also. Is Grafs headstamp brass equivalent to Lapua or Norma? At that price, it seems like a good deal, but I'll likely never buy more than 100 pieces for a long, long time. What is your experience? Thanks! Dave

I've used Norma and Graf brass. Lapua was always too expensive. Stopped buying Norma for the 9,3x62. Graf does fine! Gives me the same impact point and groups as Norma brass. Buy it at Graf's. It's cheaper. Their shipping is $5 per order. http://www.grafs.com/metallic/829 Mike -------------- DRSS, Womper's Club, NRA Life Member/Charter Member NRA Golden Eagles ... I use Graf brass for my 9,3x62 reloads. I'm on my 3rd reload of these cases and they are just fine. Think Graf gets their brass from Prvi-Partizan with the Graf stamp. ________ Ray

I stick with Norma. I've used Norma for years and appreciate the quality.

Grafs and Norma brass is probably just fine but the Lapua 9,3x62 is exceptional. I have yet to wear out of case even when shooting warm loads. If you want the Best buy Lapua..................DJ ....Remember that this is all supposed to be for fun!..................

For my 9.3 X 62 CZ550FS I bought 100 each Graf and 100 each Lapua. I use the Graf for practice rounds along with the 286 gr. Privi, then load my African loads in the Lapua. 286 gr Barnes TSX and 286 gr Barnes solids/Lapua. I have had no problems with either brass choices and would use the Graf for everything, except I just have a thing about using the best for an African trip. Norma is also top notch. I've used both Lapua and Graf brass. Haven't managed to wear out any of it and some is on the fifth or sixth firing. Neither brand seems to ever need trimming in any of my three 9.3x62 rifles. The only problem I've had is on occasion you'll find a Graf brand casing that doesn't fit in a #3 shell holder without a bit of pressing. Still functions perfectly thru my rifles and I shoot it without problem. If I sifted out the three or four per hundred that were a tight fit the Graf casings would still be much cheaper than the Lapua brass. hth

I have Graf's/PRVI brass for my CZ that has been loaded and fired with 2100fps loads ten or eleven times with ZERO failures. Good stuff! Rich Buff Killer

Graf 9.3X62 brass is really good; I haven't had a case fail yet and I have 14 loads on one batch.

I don't know which brand of shellholder you're using, but I'm guessing that it's for 30-06. If a 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser shellholder doesn't loosen it up, a 30-30 shellholder will. ________________________ "Every country has the government it deserves." - Joseph de Maistre

I've tried RWS, Norma, Geco & Lapua and the quality, durability & longevity among all of these brands has been outstanding. Cheers, Number 10

reloading and hunting with Grafs brass has delivered accuracy equal to the Norma I use so......it seems it is a toss up. Grafs is assuredly cheaper and ..... reliable.

I dote on Lapua, so that is the 9.3x62 brass of my choice. That said, I have not had any problems with the Graf's brass I bought in this caliber. - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... I use RWS - at 30,20€/20 it is a robery tho - but never had an issue.

I don't believe there is brass that is any better than RWS.However it is pricey. I have a couple hundred Graf cases and have had zero problems. Even if I only get 1/2 the life out of the Graf compared to RWS it is still a good buy.

I have had the same experience with the RCBS #3 shell holder and Graf (Prvi) brass. Sooo, I culled out the sticky ones, about 10 per hundred in my case, and used them for practice loads. After at least ten reloads on that batch they're all fine. I can also just toss the "thick rimmed" ones into the tumbler with hunting brass and sort them out because of their thick rims. I'm really not too awful concerned about brass life for a 8 poound rifle pushing a 286gr slug; I mean how many PD's are you planning to whack with your 9.3? If you are really concerned that Graf brass may fail at the moment of truth, buy a bunch of Laupa just for hunting and use the Graf for practice, I doubt you will actually notice any difference. Have you heard of anyone planning a 1000 yd match rifle in 9.3x62...

Thanks a ton, guys! Sounds like if I want to spend the money, it is worth it for Norma or Lapua, but Grafs is just fine otherwise. I'm glad to hear that Grafs is good brass for the money. From what I've read here, RL-15 is a good powder and I have plenty of that from my 223 reloading. Look forward to turning $$ into lots of noise and smoke! Dave
