Is there any difference between the A square and the 30-06 necked up to 338?

Any diff. would be very slight. THe .338-06 ASq. is the "Std." .338-06 w/ Alphin's name on it since he was the one to get SAAMI specs. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

I have a .338-06. I use .30-06 brass, simply necking them up to .338. I have had no problems so far. I use the load data in the book one caligre / one book series, although in this instance 'my' book contains load data for the 8mm-06 and the .338-06. Unfortunately, here in the UK I cannot obtain .338-06 head stamped brass.

I'm in Oz, and my 338/06 is rare, but not unknown. It will be off on its first trip to the Northern Territory (for pigs, horses, donkeys) in a few months. I'm still playing with loads, but I've had no issues with it so far. No 338/06 headstamped brass here either, but it isn't hard to pick it from the 270. The hole is huge.

I have some Weatherby brass and some Rem .35 Whelen necked down to .338. The velocity with identical charges is 30 fps in difference, so can't be much difference. A shot not taken is always a miss
