I won't bother telling you my charges on this post as every rifle is different, but, most of my pet loads are around 1 grain less than the max of that powder. I have 3 270's and here are some groups that have always produced excellent results, ON TARGET AND IN THE FIELD. All are WWbrass and Fed210M. 130 TRIPLE SHOCK Re19 130 BALLISTIC TIP OVER H4831SC 140 BALLISTIC TIP H4831/H1000 150 BALLISTIC TIP IMR4350/IMR4831 150 SPEER SPITZER MAX IMR4831 130 SWIFT SCIROCCO Re22 130 SST VV165 The first load, with the triple shock, did the most impressive number on 2 mulies last year, a coyote, and 2 whitetails. Dead is dead but when you gut an animal and it looks as if the lungs had a perfect circle surgically removed the size of a tennis ball, it is quite cool to look at. I've seen other bullets do awsome damage, turning the boiler room to mush but the triple shocks are really my new favorite bullet. Good luck and good shooting. Ps. Until you start shooting at deer beyond about 350-400 yards, I don't think you'll have a bit of difference in any bullet wt. I didn't.

I would suggest the 150 gr bullet. This is what all the 270 guys I know shoot and none ever have a complaint. Another issue that's perhaps being overlooked is that most of us, when we are hunting mule deer, it is also BEAR SEASON. One of my good pals ran into a nice black bear a few years ago and it took two 150 grs. to put the bear down....or at least he used the second one to insure the bear didn't get any smart ideas about running off. 130 gr will work, but I think the 150 is a better choice and it's a rare 270 that won't shoot the 150 fine.

I used the 130 grain Hornady spire point flat base for antelope but for all else I use either the Hornady 150 grain flat base spire point or Speers Hotcor flat based spitzer. I like Winchester brass and H4831 ignited by CCI magnum primers.

I have shot a lot of elk and deer with the 130 gr. Nosler partition and never a complaint...I use old surplus 4831 for about 3200 FPS...I also like the 160 gr. Nosler... I always use premium bullets for hunting. I learned my lessons the hard way when premiums were not available.. In your case if the gun shoots RL22 then use that..Use the premium bullet it shoots best.
