I'm building a Remington 700 in .308 Winchester. Stainless #4 contour finished to 24" length in an H&S precision stock.

My gunsmith installs any of the above barrels. I have had good performance with another Douglas barrel and cost is not a factor to me regarding these barrels.

Which barrel maker and why? Help me decide.

Also, I really prefer 165 grain bullets, so another decision is barrel twist. Thinking 11 or 12. Any preference?

I would go with a 1-12 twist that is standard. I've got a Kostyshyn barrel on order. He's a benchrest shooter and I think he takes the extra time to get it "right". Otherwise go with a Krieger in my humble opinion. I have a Shilen and a Douglas, both are fine but always looking for that bit "extra" in a barrel and I'm really looking foward to the kostyshyn. Both Lilja and Kreiger are damn good barrel makers.

My personal choice would be Kreiger with a 1-11 twist. 1-12 will also work fine. Kreiger's produces excellent barrels for the palma shooters..
