That's how I tightened them, 65 inch lbs. front and back with the middle one just snug. On any other bolt action I've never tightened them quite that much, especially the rear screw. I've always just snugged the rear screw on my other rifles. But I remember someone saying 65 inch lbs. front and back, so that's what I did with the model 70. I just wanted to make sure that's right and apparently it is.

I'm going to play around some with that barrel band screw. I'll try shooting it without it to see what happens.

The rear screw can be left just snug. That's how most of mine are.
