I'm loking for a source for 9mm Mauser rifle bullets, 240-280 gr. Any suggestions???

I do not know what next size larger you can get but I have had good luck down sizeing. The last ones I did was 429s to 416 one pass thru a lee sizing die. Takes a good press but works well.

Have you considered cast bullets?

If I may inquire, what type of rifle do you have that shoots .355" bullets? 9x57 Mauser?

A lot of people shoot 358 bullets in 9MM rifles. As long as the neck area of the chamber will allow the case to release the bullet, there is no risk.

Take your rifle to a good riflesmith and have the neck area cast to see. Re-cutting the neck to 358 dimensions is the next step and cheap.

If you tke your rifle to a 'smith who doesn't get this train of thought, run like the wind. The task is not difficult and he's not up to the task.

It's a 9x57 Mauser, vintage. I like the re-size suggestion, not really set up to do any casting. I can ask my 'smith to cast the neck. I have about 60 rounds loaded of 245 and 280 + empties.

I have a 9x56 ms that pasing through the barrell a piece of lead determine the diameter in .353 so , went to a tornery and made a swagging die that with one pass puts the hornady 250 gr bullets from .358 to .353.
Do it , it really works and you dont modifie that old gun.
I do the same with .375 to .366 for my 9,3x62 and it really works , this one is in a two steps die.

gtrotz is exactly right about the 9x56mm Mannlicher-Schoenauer. In fatc the 9x56mm is probably the worst offender I know of when looking for a standard bore, because they vary all the way from .353 to .358. I have no idea what was going on in the standardization world back then, 1905-1930, but it wasn't good!!! On all those old 9mm bores, you cannot go wrong by taking a chamber and barrel cast.
