I have a CZ 550 American in .308. I love the rifle, It's quite accurate. I am not in love with the detachable mag. So, I'm wondering if all the 550 American actions are the same size. Can I get a stock from something like an .06 with the internal mag and drop it in that stock/ Can I just buy different bottom metal and internal box mag to replace the detachable mag? Where would be the best place to look for a stock and bottom metal to fit my rifle?
Thanks for entertaining me if these are dumb questions.

Matt

In my experience, the detachable box magazine was only used for “short action” cartridges. The “long action” cartridges are a traditional Mauser style magazine.

With the detachable magazine, the cartridges were more centered back to front in the action, than with the traditional Mauser magazine where they were positioned to the back of the magazine and action.

Thank you for the link. I'll give them a call and ask if the action length is the same and if I can use a standard magazine with this rifle.

Of all my rifles with synthetic stocks, my favorite stock is on my CZ 550 American 9.3x62. It is the Kevlar stock made by Bell and Carlson. I really like the feel and function of this stock.
