I have a T3 hunter in 270 wsm. I would like to put on a limb saver but my local gun shop adviced against it. They said the orienal is glued, stapled and screwed. Anyone have any experience with this????

Sounds like they would prefer that you remove the old one.

I have only used one Limbsaver and that came on a Hogue stock that I had on a semi-custom. I had a de-cellerator pad on an H-S precision stock that was glued on from the factory that came partially loose and therefore quit working properly which cause my 338RUM to really rattled my teeth. I drilled it for screws and reattached it and it worked just as well as when properly glued. I am not sure if the Limbsaver works on the same principle as the De-cellerator; i.e. air compression, but I don't know why the Limbsaver wouldn't work on a T-3.

I use a slip on limbsaver w/ some rifles, works great.

I stuck the grind to fit limbsaver on a mauser, no complaints from me.

TO clearify. Everyone I know is happy with the limb saver it as the removal of the original butt on the T3 hunter that is the question. Is it really that difficult ie glued,stapled and screwed as reported by the gun shop?????

I have heard that the original pad on T3's are hard to get off.
As far as limbsavers are concerned, I have several. There was a rubber formulation (it's not rubber, but petro product) problem two or three years ago. A number of mine melted and made a mess. I took them to my gun smith, Limbsaver gave me replacements. They do a great job of taking the jolt out of some hard kickers. It's a much better pad, in terms of easing recoil than the original on your T3.
