I have owned several 200s and 202s. Have never had a problem with any of them. Can't think of any commercial actions that are much better and they are very accurate. Decent used 200s are usually priced attractively considering the quality. The last Sauer I purchased was a 202 in 25 06 in excellent condition for $1350...if that helps.

How are the triggers on the 200 guns? Are they adjustable? Do you know if the 202 clips and barrels will work in the 200's

Depending on your rifle, some come with the set trigger, but most come with a standard trigger. The standard trigger is pretty good, in my experience with a couple of Model 200s. The 202 magazine and barrels will fit the 200 models and vice versa. I have two 202s and half of my barrels are from Model 200s.

Hope this helps.

Unless it is something really spectacular, I wouldn't give more than $1000 for it.

Saying that, you can use Sauer 202 barrels, and I have been told that you can use Sauer SSG 3000, 205, and 200 STR barrels as well. Sauer USA says that you can not use SSG 3000, 205, and 200 STR barrels, but everyone in Europe is doing just that.

So you have some upgradability on that platform.

I think Bix n'Andy make a trigger for it.

The sauer 202 I owned was one of my favorite rifles.

It is a 30 yr. old gun that has never been fired and I can get it for $1000. I think it is the basic model 200 steel action that is pretty heavy, but very solid. It does balance and handle well. I don't need it but I am very intrigued by the gun. Comes with bases and take down tool and one clip. I also have a weakness for 270 win. Almost shame to shoot it now, but it will get shot if I do buy it. You guys have been helpful. Thanks.

It is not a collectable firearm. If you can get it for $1000, it will be money well spent. You should be able to buy addtional barrels used for $500-850, and new ones for $850 and up. Sauer discontinued the 202, and has moved onto the 404. The 404 doesn't allow for the same barrels that the SSG3000, 205, and STR 200 (Scandanavian Target Rifle) use.

The 205 STR and SSG 3000, and probably 205 are still in production, so there is some parts interchange if you don't like what you have.

Grodas stocks in Norway used to make stocks for them if you don't like the stock. A bolt from a 205, STR 200 and 202 should interchange.

I bought a LH 30-06 a few months ago. Haven't hunted with it, but have shot it a quite a bit.

Trigger was good, so I haven't tried to adjust. Good accuracy. Like most things German, it is built like a tank.

Mine has a beautiful piece of wood, no marks anywhere.

I paid $1,200.00 and am very pleased with it.

I bought the Sauer 200 and so far, really like it so far. The gun is well built and workmanship is better than any gun I own. Trigger is right at 3 lbs and very crisp. First load I tried went into an inch at 100 yds. It is a little on the heavy side but still handles and carries great. Have a good 150 gr load and will continue work on a good 130 gr load. I believe it is a keeper.

Here is one in 30'06 - a copy! Guess where it is made? Big Grin

Yes it is now made in India. I saw this rifle about 5 years ago and found it very rough in finish. The 3 lug bolt was a blacksmith job. The stock was rough & grains were coarse. The drop at heel is so low that I pity the shooter as he will get booted by the recoil. The rear sight look like what one would see on an air rifle!

Not sure how it shoots!
