The magazine box on M-70's is plenty long enough to seat most common bullets all the way to the lands. At least it is on my M-70 Stainless........DJ

I have the Model 70 Laminate model in 300 WSM. It weighs a good bit probably almost 8 lbs naked, but I like a gun with some weight since my target rifle weighs 14 lbs. Barnes 180 gr Triple Shocks are .040 off the lands at 2.865 OAL and go 1/2 MOA @ 2972fps Avg. Have taken 2 whitetails, 1 springbuck, 1 blesbok and 1 kudu with it so far, I don't think I'll ever recover a bullet. It has been pillar bedded and had the trigger worked over. Winchester still lists it on their website.

My .300WSM Featherweight shoots under an inch with 165gr B/Tips and 180gr Woodleigh PP's. Nice piece of wood, trigger tune and bed & float, Leupold Vari-X II 2-7x33 Plenty of room in mag box for longer projectiles. Love the rifle.

I to noticed this. I was looking at a 300 wsm for an Ibex, but when I looked at each m70 chambered for the caliber I noticed they "supposedly" weigh the same not matter what version of the m70 they are in. Hopefully someone can clarifly this. Sevens
