What do you think about it? Anyone have one?

I have never had an encore so was curious if you could buy the rifle and then buy parts to be able to make it a pistol? I know that with the rifle you can buy barrels for lots of different calibers as well as shotgun and muzzleloader barrels.

Any info appreciated.

There is debate about the legality converting the rifle to a pistol, TC says it's OK. Most shooters follow TC's advice. Not sure of California's laws. If you are going to get both to be safe buy a pistol first.

Here's a link on the issue

I don't think TC says it's OK. If you have a pistol receiver you may put a rifle barrel and rifle stock on it. If you have a rifle receiver you cannot convert it to use as a pistol.

This will be my first T/C gun so bear with me....

Keep in mind that I mainly want an Encore to be used as a rifle but want the ability to change to a pistol or short barrel rifle legally.

Are the rifle and pistol frames are exactly the same except for the fact that they are registered as either pistol or rifle with the state and T/C?

Can the pistol be converted to anything (rifle, muzzleloader, shotgun, etc..) the long gun can convert to?

So, assuming the pistol can physically be converted to anything (rifle, muzzleloader, shotgun, etc.) the best thing to do would be to buy a pistol frame and convert it to the long gun I want in the fist place just so I have the option of using it as a pistol or short rifle legally?

I just bought a 25-06 Pro Hunter pistol barrel for my Encore rifle. Fits right on it. Illegal though. Wink

Yes, Yes, & Yes

I was in the position 3 years ago that you are now.

I just purchased an encore frame registered as a pistol and then started buying barrels.

Yes, you need to buy a stock and forearm but its nice to get some sort of custome stock.

It won't look like all the others.

The barrels I have now:
Rifle: 375 H&H
22-250

Pistol: 25-06

Hey Riodot,

Is that 25-06 a TC barrel? How does it shoot? Someone posted that there was a chamber issue with these. I haven't shot mine yet, still waiting on the scope. Mad
